July 2008: Discovery of an operational oil spill trailing 25 km long and 50 m wide in the wake of the Skulptor Anikuschin.

SFE presses charges at the District High Court in Le Havre to claim for criminal indemnification.

9th of February 2009: Court hearing.

18th of March 2009: The judgment is rendered, and the captain and the owner of the ship are sentenced to a combined fine of € 350,000. They announce that they will not appeal. € 2,000 are paid out to SFE in damages.
